Vibrant County Journal

Write for us

We welcome pitches that help readers understand county land, boundaries, routes, settlements or place names without turning a local detail into a universal rule. Send proposals through the Contact page; a clear idea matters more than a polished essay.

What makes a good pitch

Name the subject, the question the piece will answer and why a general reader might care. Explain the main point in a few sentences, identify the kind of material the idea would need, and note any uncertainty or competing interpretation. Specific, tightly framed pitches are easier to assess than broad promises to cover a county.

Useful contributions

We consider explanatory features, comparisons, historical context and careful accounts of how to read a landscape or place name. Original writing should be clear about the difference between evidence and inference. We do not want fabricated details, unsupported claims, promotional copy disguised as editorial work or content that depends on readers checking local rules to act safely.

Send a proposal

Use the Contact page and select the editorial enquiry option. Include a working title, a short summary and any relevant experience or source material you can describe. Do not send confidential or personal information. A proposal is not a promise of publication, and no response time is guaranteed.
